Osmundo O. Ramirez, age 80, of Marion, IL, former resident of the Chicago, IL area for many years, passed away at 1:31 p.m. with his family by his side on Friday, November 27, 2009, at St. Louis University Hospital of St. Louis, MO.
He was born on October 20, 1929, at Goa Camarines Sur, of the Philippines, the son of Jose and Juana (Obias) Ramirez.
Osmundo was united in marriage to Dorie Andal on December 27, 1962, in Quezon City, of the Philippines and together they have shared nearly forty seven years of marriage.
His working career was with the Blue Cross- Blue Shield Insurance Company of Chicago, IL for many years until his retirement in 1991. After his retirement he and his wife, Dorie, moved to Marion, IL in 1993.
He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Marion, IL where he served as Communion Minister to those who were hospitalized and homebound. His faith was a very important part of his life. He was always reading, listening and discussing with others trying to learn and understand more of God’s word. He was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration and Children of Mary religious organizations located in the Philippines.
He will be remembered for the love he had for his family and the willingness to help others.
He is survived by his wife, Dorie Ramirez of Marion, IL; daughter, Monina LeMay of Marion, IL; grandson, Donovan LeMay of Marion, IL; six sisters and two brothers-in-law, Rosario and Raul Soriano, Zenaida Ramirez all of the Toronto, Ontario, Canada area, Maria Luisa Ramirez, Vita and Leoncio Tria, Elizabeth Azana and Fe Dizon all of Goa Camarines Sur, of the Philippines, other extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and 3 brothers.
Arrangements for Osmundo O. Ramirez were entrusted to the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court Street, of Marion, IL.
A time of visitation for family and friends was from 11:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Monday, November 30th, at the funeral home.
Following the time of visitation the family and friends proceeded to St. Joseph Catholic Church of Marion, IL for the funeral mass at 2:00 p.m. with Father Thomas Flach presiding.
The musical selections of the Mass were presented by organist, Debra DeGoricia. Special readings of scriptures were presented by Dorothy Machicao.
Pallbearers were Mike Hooten, Raul Soriano, Donovan LeMay, Antonio Cacho, Kris Kilpatrick and Frank Santa-Teresa.
Following the service the family and friends gathered at the Family Life Center of St. Joseph Catholic Church for a meal and continued time of fellowship.
