Pauletta Kay Williams, age 58, of Herrin, IL passed away surrounded by her family at 4:50 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2009, at her home.
She was born on March 18, 1951, in Herrin, IL the daughter of Winfred Ralph “W.R.” and Mary Lou (Smith) Boyd.
Pauletta was united in marriage to Donald Duane Williams on March 21, 1971, in Ottawa, IL and together they have shared the last thirty eight years of marriage.
She received her Associate degree in Nursing from John A. Logan College of Carterville, IL in 1988. After her graduation she began working at Shawnee Christian Care Center of Herrin, IL as a Geriatric Nurse. She later moved to Florida and continued working in nursing for 10 ½ years. After the death of her father on March 31, 2000, she returned back to Southern Illinois to be near her mother.
Her life was centered on her children, grandchildren and family. She will be remembered by her grandchildren as being a “Fabulous Grandmother” always interested in all their activities.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Lou Boyd of Herrin, IL; husband, Donald Duane Williams of Herrin, IL; daughter, Wendy Williams of Mountain View, MO; son, Duane Williams of Springfield, IL; four grandchildren, Daniel Caplinger and Kayce Caplinger both of Mountain View, MO and Jonathan Williams and Kaytlynn Williams both of Springfield, IL; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Teresa Boyd of Marion, IL, other extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Winfred Ralph “W.R.” Boyd and her brother, Winfred Ralph Boyd, Jr.
Arrangements for Pauletta Kay Williams were entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St. in Marion, IL.
A time of visitation for family and friends was on Saturday, December 5, 2009, between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home.
Following the time of visitation a Celebration of Life Memorial Service was at 7:00 p.m. with her son, Duane, presiding.
Comments of memory were shared by Pauletta’s grandchildren, Jonathan and Kaytlynn Williams.
The memorial service began with the presentation of the recorded musical selection, “Angels Among Us” by Alabama and closed with the recorded musical selection, “If I Had Only Known” by Reba McEntire.
For those who preferred, memorial contributions were made to “The Williams Family”. Memorial contribution envelopes were available at the funeral home or were mailed in care of Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, P.O. Box 370, Marion, IL 62959.
