Lucille B. Cole, age 92, of Marion, IL passed away peacefully at 12:10 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2010, at her home in Marion, IL.
She was born March 3, 1917, at Morrilton, AR the daughter of Claude and Annie (Tollison) Beeson.
Lucille was united in marriage to Noble Wayne Cole on February 22, 1939, in Jackson, MO and together they shared over twenty six years of marriage until his death came on October 13, 1965.
Her working career was with the Baptist Book Store of Carterville, IL for twenty five years until her retirement in 1989.
She was a long time and active member of the First Baptist Church of Marion, IL teaching Sunday school, was a Sunbeam leader, bible study leader, helped with Bible School and was the church librarian for many years.
Her family was a very important part of her life always getting together at Christmas time and in August for the Beeson Family reunion. Many times she traveled the country from coast to coast with her mother visiting her extended family and one year she made a mission trip to Sweden. In her travels she always was looking for Coca-Cola collectables, light houses and unique rocks that caught her eye.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Judy Cole of Pevely, MO; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dr. Jerry Eaton of Lakeland, FL; son-in-law, Walter Winesburg of Nashville, TN; seven grandchildren, Kim Leischner and her husband, David, Lori Dawson and her husband, Neil, Robin Lane and her husband, David, Sarah Cole, Wayne Cole and his wife, Sarah, Nicole Eaton and Derek Eaton and his wife, Shannon; granddaughter-in-law, Lauri Cole, ten great grandchildren; sister, Johnnie McVay of Scott City, MO, other extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; daughter, Barbara Winesburg in 2001; grandson, David Cole; infant granddaughter, Sally Cole; four sisters, Beatrice Cole, Reba Beeson, Pauline Westcoat and Betty Gary and three brothers, Emmitt, W.T. and Cecil Beeson.
Arrangements for Lucille B. Cole were entrusted to the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court Street, of Marion, IL.
The funeral service was at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 2010, at First Baptist Church, 401 W. Union St., Marion, IL with Dr. Bob Dickerson presiding.
The prelude and postlude musical selections were presented by pianist, Byron Corzine and organist, Julie Douglas.
Special vocal musical selections presented were “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus” and “Count Your Blessings” both by Elaine Hancock and “Amazing Grace” as a congregational hymn with pianist, Byron Corzine and organist, Julie Douglas accompanying.
Interment followed next to her husband in Rose Hill Cemetery of Marion, IL.
Pallbearers were David Lane, David Leischner, Neil Dawson, Derek Eaton, Wayne Cole, Brett Leischner and Brad Leischner.
After the committal service at the cemetery the family and friends gathered at the First Baptist Church for a meal and continued time of fellowship and support.
The time of visitation for family and friends was from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23rd, at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home and after 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, at the church.
During the time of visitation a “Reflection of Life” DVD memorial tribute featuring special people, places and events of Lucille’s life was presented to the family and friends.
For those who preferred memorial contributions were made to “First Baptist Church Library”. Memorial contribution envelopes were available at the funeral home and the church or were mailed in care of Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, P.O. Box 370, Marion, IL 62959.
