Christena Mary Otey, age 88, of Pittsburg, IL passed away at 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at her home.
She was born April 27, 1921, in Pittsburg, IL the daughter of Roy Lee and Emma Ellen (Clark) Slater.
Christena was united in marriage to Charles O. Otey on February 8, 1946, in Chicago, IL and together they shared over forty eight years of marriage until his death came on July 8, 1994.
She was a loving mother and homemaker always busy seeing to the needs of her family and her home.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wally and Pat Otey of Omaha, NB; three grandchildren, Kristen Ryan and her husband, Chris of Denver, CO, Micheline Henning and her husband, Scott of Lincoln, NB and Michael Lanctot of Denver, CO; great grandson, Joshua Henning, other extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Earl Slater who passed away in 1973.
Arrangements for Christena Mary Otey were entrusted to the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court Street, of Marion, IL.
A time of visitation for family and friends was from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 1st, at the funeral home.
Following the time of visitation the funeral service was at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 1, 2010, at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home with Rev. Edward L. Alsip presiding.
The prelude and postlude musical selections were recorded piano selections.
Interment followed next to her husband in Union Grove Cemetery east of Pittsburg, IL.
Pallbearers were Steve Tolbert, Chris Edmonds, Jared Tolbert and Larry Mandrell.
