Connie Boyd Cosby Gerhardt

October 21, 1936 - January 10, 2021

The measure of a person’s wealth is identified in many ways but the most significant is the cultivation of their relationship with family and friends whose value is appreciated every day of their lives. Connie Boyd Cosby Gerhardt of Marion, Illinois passed away early Sunday morning January 10, 2021 at Parkway Manor Liberty Village in Marion. She was born October 21, 1936 to Raymond and Thelma (Deaton) Boyd. Connie was a businesswoman who was multi-talented and truly enjoyed her work. Her past businesses included Connie’s Fashions of Marion and Harrisburg, Connie’s Full Fashions of Marion, The Spinning Wheel of Johnston City, Aunt Connie’s Resale of Marion, and Connie’s Flowers and Gifts of Marion. She also worked at the Highway Department and the County Clerk Office in Marion. Through her work she reached out to many people who had needs and made lifelong friends along the way. She is survived by her sister Ladonna Dryden of Herrin, Illinois. She was preceded in death recently by her brother Rev. John Boyd. His wife Alice survives. Connie has two children who survive her. Gary Cosby and his wife Christine of Granite City, Il. and Sherry Cosby Ray of Marion, Il. Connie loved being with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Her grandchildren include: Dylan Greeney M.D. of Indianapolis, In., Sgt. Jackson Ray of Belleville, Il., SSGT. Jacob Ray and his wife Trinity of Panama City, Fl, Dustin Murphy and his wife Amanda of Troy, Il., and Ashley Storck and her husband Ken of Okawville, Il. Connie’s great grandchildren include Aaron Murphy, Tyler Storck, Haley Smith, Hannah Smith, Beckett Murphy, and Addison Murphy. Her great great grandchildren include Carter Murphy, Colten Tompkins, and Sirus Murphy. Connie’s surviving nieces and nephews include Sharon Cavitt, Terri Steele, Dena Gault, Marti Craig, Kimberly Steinsultz, and Mark Boyd. Connie was a proud member of Marion First Apostolic Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion. The visitation will be on Friday, January 15 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Following the time of visitation the funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Gault presiding. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery in Stone Fort, IL. For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be made to "American Cancer Society Hope Lodge". Memorial contributions may be mailed in care of Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N.
