David W Williams

September 18, 1963 - February 14, 2021

David Wade Williams, age 57, of Marion, IL, passed away unexpectedly while at work on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at 9:50 a.m. He was born on Wednesday, September 18, 1963, in Carbondale, IL, to Larry and Joyce Williams. He was a graduate of Murphysboro High School, class of 1981 and then attended John A. Logan College and Southern Illinois University Carbondale. David was united in marriage to Stephanie Williams on Saturday, March 12, 1988 at Second Baptist Church in Marion, IL and together they have shared nearly 33 years of marriage. Together, they owned and operated the Dairy Barn in Goreville, IL from 1987 until 1998 and would spend weekends working for his family’s business, C&W Testing. After selling the Dairy Barn, he took a job at the Wastewater Treatment Plant for the City of Marion until his passing. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Marion, IL and along with his wife, worked in the church’s Kindergarten Sunday School class for almost 20 years. He was very knowledgeable in History and had a passion for politics, being a proud member of the Republican Party. He loved watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and cooking, especially chili and spaghetti. Many memories were made with his sons trying to teach them to cook. He will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind. He is survived by his parents, Larry and Joyce Williams of Marion, IL; his wife, Stephanie Williams of Marion, IL; two sons, Evan Williams of Waukee, IA and Lucas Williams, his wife Samantha and their daughter Josephine Dawn Williams expected in May, of Marion, IL; brother, Darryl Williams of Anna, IL and his sister, Sarah Ruhe of Marion, IL. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Verna Saul. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL. The visitation will be on Monday, February 22, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home with Pastor Marty Samples and Pastor Darryl Williams presiding. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery of Marion, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to “Second Baptist Church”. Memorial contributions may be mailed in care of Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court Street, Marion, IL, 62959. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
