Donald Ray Wollard Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Donald R. Wollard, age 83, of Goreville, IL, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at 10:06 a.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2020, in the Hillview Healthcare Center of Vienna, IL. He was born at home on Tuesday, September 14, 1937, in Williamson County, IL, the son of Esco Cline and Sylvia Marie (Grimes) Wollard. Donald was united in marriage to Janice Ruth Rodgers on Friday, March 9, 1956, in the Hickory Grove Church, located southwest of Marion, IL, and together they have shared over 64 years of marriage. He began his working career working on several of the farms of the area helping with planting and harvesting until he began his long career in construction. He has worked for several construction companies of the Marion area including; Orville Mohler Construction, Gerald Cannon Construction and Sherlock Holmes Construction. He was a member of Pulley’s Mill Apostolic Church, located just north of Goreville, for many years. He also has been a member of the Local Laborers Union No. 773 of Marion for over 50 years. In his spare time he enjoyed gospel singing, especially going around singing at many of the areas churches. He also was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball Fan. He loved his family and extended family and always looked forward to the many gatherings and was always interested in all of their many different activities. The many memories created will now be cherished by those he leaves behind. He is survived by his wife, Janice Ruth Wollard of Goreville, IL; daughter and son-in-law, Debra Ruth and Doug Richard of Oquawka, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Donald Eugene and Tami Wollard of Goreville, IL; five grandchildren, Erica Raley and husband, Jeff of Bowling Green, KY, Jennifer Drake and husband, Johnny of Terre Haute, IN, Christopher Huckelberry and wife, Rikki of Terre Haute, IN, Amber Rae Clarida and husband, Ryan of Johnston City, IL and Dathan Cline Wollard and wife, Michelle of Marion, IL; thirteen great grandchildren, Brooke Raley, Allison Raley, Devin Drake, Zach Drake, Nate Drake, Mason Huckelberry, Blake Clarida, Jaydon Clarida, Haley Clarida, Jase Clarida, Chandler Wollard, Elizabeth Crook and Alina Crumery; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee and Deann Wollard of Goreville, IL and Waldo and June Wollard of Marion, IL; sister and brother-in-law, Nell and Jim Mayer of Marion, IL; six sisters-in-law, Shirley Perry and husband, Clarence of Goreville, IL, Martha Rodgers of Goreville, IL, Mary Rodgers of Goreville, IL, Marjorie Ford and husband, George of Goreville, IL, Nancy Landweir and husband, Don of Goreville, IL and Patricia Reynolds and husband, Jim of Vienna, IL, a large host of nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Arrangements were entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion. The visitation was from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24th at the funeral home. During the time of visitation a “Reflection of Life” DVD Memorial Tribute featuring special people, places and events in Don’s life was presented to the family and friends. The funeral service was at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home of Marion, with Sister Martha Rodgers presiding. Comments of memory were presented by several of those attending. The prelude and postlude musical selections were presented by pianist, Linda Rice. Special vocal musical selections presented during the service were “Here Comes Jesus Right on Time”, “I Still Serve an Amazing God” and “Amazing Grace” all by Marjorie Ford with pianist, Linda Rice Accompanying. Interment followed in Freedom Cemetery south of Marion, IL. Pallbearers were Ryan Clarida, Donny Wollard, Jeff Raley, Dathan Wollard, Chris Huckelberry and Doug Richard. Following the committal service the immediate family gathered at Pulley’s Mill Apostolic Church for a meal and continued time of fellowship and support. For those who preferred, memorial contributions were made to “Pulley’s Mill Apostolic Church”. Memorial contributions were mailed in care of Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N.
