Ella Rue "Ellie" Elizabeth Raymond Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ella Rue “Ellie” Elizabeth Raymond, age 85, of Bellefonte, PA, formerly of Marion, IL, passed away peacefully with her family near, at 12:25 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Friday, April 15, 2022, in Mount Nittany Medical Center of State College, PA. She was born in St. Louis, MO, on October 26, 1936, the daughter of Ollie Thomas and Georgia Emma (Wren) Frizzell. Ellie attended school in Jerseyville, IL, and high school in Cairo, IL. She later continued her education at Southern Illinois University of Carbondale, IL where she received her Bachelor Degree in Home Economics Education and a Secondary Education Certificate. She continued her education at Southern Illinois University and received her Master Degree in Education and her Doctorate Degree (PhD) in Vocational Educational Studies. She was united in marriage twice during her lifetime; the first to Ronald Walter England, Sr. in June of 1953, in Corinth, MS, and this union was blessed with three children; Ronald Walter, Jr., Michael Eugene and Lisa Marie. She later was united in marriage to Harold “Dugan” Rudy Raymond on August 22, 1977, in Marion, IL, and together they shared nearly 36 years of marriage until his death on June 10, 2013. Early in her working career she was a school teacher, teaching at JAMP Special Education Services (serving the lower 4 counties of IL), then at Carbondale, IL, Centralia, IL, and Kaskaskia Community College near Centralia, IL. Then in 1983, she decided to go into business, with her son, Mike and opened Raymond’s Custom Draperies and Upholstery of Marion, and operated this business, with the help of her family, for 30 years until she retired in 2013. While she was living in Marion, she was a very active member of Cornerstone Church and loved witnessing and telling people about Jesus. She called herself a “Sole Winner.” Then in 2016, her and her daughter, Lisa decided to move to Pennsylvania to be near Lisa’s son, Eric. They settled in Butler, PA, and lived there until August, 2021. While living in Butler, she attended at North Main Church of God. Her daughter, Lisa began mainly working from home and her job allowed them both to move to Bellefonte, PA, where Ellie’s grandson and Lisa’s son, Eric lived and she attended at First Baptist Church of Bellefonte. In her spare time, she enjoyed Interior Decorating. Later in life, she tributes this to her mother’s teachings when she was young, she loved sewing and crocheting. She also enjoyed being very active in any of the churches that she was attending and spreading the Gospel to anyone that would listen. Her family was a very important part of her life and she loved the times they would share together and was always interested in hearing about the activities going on in their lives. The many memories created will now be cherished by those she leaves behind. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa M. Fry of Bellefonte, PA; three grandchildren, Belinda Sue Frye of Tamaroa, IL, John Walter England and wife, Heather of Booneville, IN and Eric Milon Fry of Bellefonte, PA; five great grandchildren, Cody Allen Frye and wife, Joyce of Shawneetown, IL, Sadie Marie Frye and companion, Jason of Sesser, IL, Preston Michael Frye and companion, Brie of Booneville, IN, Amanda Jo England of Sparta, IL, and Dalton Michael England of Pinckneyville, IL; five great-great grandchildren, Paycen, Oakley, Clara, Madison and Mateo; two sisters, Mary “Doodle” Goins of Villa Ridge, IL, and Estelle Bellamy of Marion, IL; daughter-in-law, Brenda Sue England of Cambria, IL, other extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two sons, Ronald Walter England, Jr. and Michael Eugene England; sister, Irma Jean Womble and brother, Thomas Bone. Arrangements are entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL. The visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2022, at the funeral home. Following the time of visitation, the funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Matt Crain presiding. Interment will follow next to her husband, Dugan in County Line Cemetery located south of Creal Springs, IL. The family has requested for those who prefer, memorial contributions be made to either or both; “Cornerstone Church” and/or “County Line Cemetery.” Memorial contributions may be mailed in care of Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N.
