Jean Valerie Cargal

December 12, 1943 - November 4, 2012

Jean Valerie Cargal, age 68 of Creal Springs, IL, the Lake of Egypt community, passed away with her family by her side at 12:20 a.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2012, in Kindred Hospital - St. Anthony’s of St. Louis, MO. She was born in Aurora, IL on Sunday, December 12, 1943, the daughter of George and Gertrude (Mitchell) Rahm who preceded her in death. Jean was united in marriage to Robert Lee “Bob” Cargal on Saturday, September 2, 1989, in Fairview Heights, IL and together they have shared over twenty-three years of marriage. Jean was a member of the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ of Marion, IL. She loved her church family and was actively involved in the Christian Women’s Fellowship and served as a deacon in the church. She was a beautician for thirty-five years and owned and operated a beauty shop in O’Fallon, IL before moving to the Lake of Egypt. Jean always kept busy and enjoyed sewing and doing needlework, quilting and cross stitching. She spent many happy years living on the Lake of Egypt where she enjoyed gardening and raising flowers and spending time with her many pets. Most of all she loved the company of her family and friends and especially her grandchildren. Jean will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Robert L. “Bob” Cargal of the Lake of Egypt Community; three daughters, Debbie Hall of Oklahoma, Sharon Loch of Everett, WA and Katie Kneezle and husband, Gary of Fenton, MO; six grandchildren, Ashley Peters, Andrew Peters, Ryan Kneezle, Benjamin Kneezle, Samantha Loch and Brandon Loch; her sister, Georgene Krewer and husband, Charles of Woodstock, IL; other extended family members and many friends. Arrangements for Jean V. Cargal were entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home at 900 N. Court Street, Marion, IL. Continued on the Reverse Side The time of visitation was on Wednesday, November 7th between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. During the time of visitation a “Reflections of Life” DVD Memorial Tribute featuring special people, places and events of Jean’s life was presented to the family and friends. The funeral service was at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Rucker presiding and Gary Rothenberger assisting. The prelude recorded instrumental musical selections presented were “Just a Closer Walk With Thee”, “How Great Thou Art” and “Love Lifted Me”. The postlude musical selections presented were recorded instrumental piano selections. Special recorded musical selections presented during the service were “Amazing Grace” as a instrumental selection and “In This Very Room” as a vocal selection. After the memorial service the family and friends gathered at the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ of Marion, for a meal and continued time of fellowship and support. For those who preferred, memorial contributions were made to the “First Christian Church–Disciples of Christ” of Marion, IL.
