Lee LaVerne “Bob” Walker, age 99, of Marion, IL, passed away at 3:15pm on Tuesday October 19, 2021 in Veteran Hospital Community Living Center in Marion, IL. He Was Born on April 7, 1922, in Marion, IL, the son of Ray Allen Walker and Elizabeth (Poteete) Walker. Bob attended School in Marion and was a graduate of Marion Township High School Class of 1940 and was a member of Second Baptist Church of Marion. Bob was first united in marriage to, Anna F. Birkhead, on June 14, 1941 in Union City, TN and shared over 56 years together. Later he married, Nathalie (Boles) Williams, on October 31, 2005 at Second Baptist Church in Marion, IL and together they shared 16 years of Marriage. He answered the call of this nation by serving in the United States Army. After his period of faithful service, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. His working career was as owner of Hicks & Walker Oil Company in De Soto, IL. In earlier years they loved to travel around the country in their motorhome. They met up with friends and family and would travel together with them. They once drove to Alaska and back. He is survived by his wife, Nathalie (Boles) Walker; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Rodger A. Walker of Carterville, IL and Jeffery R. and Ann Walker of Orland Park, IL; grandchildren, Traci Walker of Centreville, VA Lindsey & Alex Doukopoulos of Auburn, AL, Katy & Devin Rafferty of Leonardo, NJ, Monica & Brian Drylevicz of St. Louis, MO, Becky Walker & Companion Zach McCall of Centennial, CO, and Michael Walker & Michelle of Wheaton, IL; great grandchildren, Mira & Adriana Doukopoulos, Conor & Ethan Rafferty, Brandon & Caitlin Drylevicz, Audrey McCall, Serena, Sophia and Graham Walker; step daughters, Melanie & Jesse James of Marion; step son, Bailey Williams of Destrehan, LA; step grandchildren, Miles & Hannah James of St. Louis, MO, Max James of Marion IL, Melinda & Doug Deaton of Marion, Austin Williams and B.G. Williams both of Luling, LA; step great grandchildren, Doug & Chandler Deaton, Kristen, Katie & Chloe Williams, Blaze Williams, and Ava Crees; great great-granddaughter, Sawyer Deaton. He was preceded in death by his parents; Ray Allen and Elizabeth (Poteete) Walker; first wife, Anna; son, Leonard E. Walker; step daughter Judith Crees; daughter in law, Patti Walker and step grandson, Don Crees. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL. The graveside service will be on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion IL with Rev. Ashby Tillery presiding.
