Loyde Ray Marks Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Loyde R. Marks, age 84, of Collinsville, IL, formerly of Marion, IL, passed away peacefully at 10:10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, in Anderson Hospital of Maryville, IL. He was born on August 8, 1937, in Marion, IL, the son of Virgil James and Ellen Mae (Brush) Marks. Loyde attended school in Marion, and was a graduate of Marion High School Class of 1957. He received additional education at an area college. He was united in marriage to Mary Margaret Angel on June 3, 1961, in Marion, IL, and together they have shared over 61 years of marriage. Early in his working career he worked for Western Union. He later began working for General Telephone as an Equipment Installer until he retired after 28 years in 1991. He was a member of the Herrin Christian Church of Herrin, IL, where he also served as an Elder. He also was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge No. 89 AF & AM of Marion, IL. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, doing stain glass and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved his family and enjoyed the times they shared together. The many memories created will now be cherished by those he leaves behind. He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Marks of Collinsville, IL; son, Christopher S. Marks and wife Laurel of Jefferson City, Mo; son, Michael R. Marks and wife Kim of Troy, IL; grandson, Dustin M. Marks of Shiloh, IL; sister, Stella Childers of Cambria, IL; goddaughters, Angie Eaton and Ashleigh Benson, and many other extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rosa Wear and Ruth Marks and two brothers, Vernon Marks and Carl Marks. Arrangements are entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL. The graveside committal service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022, in Rose Hill Cemetery of Marion, with Pastor Ashley Shurtz presiding. Those wishing to attend the graveside service should gather at the cemetery prior to 11:00 a.m. The family has requested for those who prefer, memorial contributions be made to either or both; “Hospice of Southern Illinois” and/or “Illinois Masonic Children’s Home.” Memorial contributions may be mailed in care of Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N.
