Marjorie Kay Boozer, age 75, of Marion, IL, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ at 6:45 a.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2018, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, IL, after a brief illness caused by infection to her blood system. She was the loving wife of Rev. Jimmie G. Boozer. Kay was born on Wednesday, May 12, 1943, in Bluford, IL. She was raised by her mother and step father, Jennie Irene (Tyler) and Clark Field. She was united in marriage to Jimmie G. Boozer on Saturday, July 6, 1996, on the front lawn of their current home south of Marion and together they have shared over 22 years of marriage. Kay was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marion where she designed and made costumes for the musical performances performed by the choir. She was an excellent seamstress and spent many hours sewing in her shop at her home “Kay’s Sew & Sew” that she operated for 22 years. In her spare time she enjoyed musicals, playing her keyboard, painting, doing crafts with her sister, Linda Field and serving her Lord by putting her talents to work for Him. She is survived by her husband, Jimmie G. Boozer; two daughters, Angelique Annette Piercy and her husband Steve and Erin Dawn Boozer; two sons, Sheldon Scott Lambert and his wife Cindi and Jimmie Gale Boozer, Jr. and his wife Victoria; eleven grandchildren, Alyssa Dawn Byars and her husband Jason, 1st Lieutenant Dustin Cole Bagnall and his wife AnneMarie, Candis Lambert, Toren Lambert, Chenoa Boozer, Joey Gregory, Christina Johnson and her husband Jason, Stephen Flatt, Elizabeth Flatt, and Matthew Morgan; two great grandchildren, Raven Byars and Jesse Byars; two sisters, Linda R. Field and her husband Larry and Mary F. Freeman and her husband Dale; brother, Robert “Bobby” C. Field and his wife Ann, many nieces and nephews, other extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and step father, Jennie and Clark Field; granddaughter, Tasha Boozer and brother, Gale Carter. Arrangements for Marjorie Kay Boozer were entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion. The visitation was from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018, at the funeral home. During the time of visitation a “Reflection of Life” DVD Memorial Tribute was presented to the family and friends and featured special people, places, and events of Kay’s life. Following the time of visitation the funeral service was at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Bob Dickerson presiding. The prelude and postlude musical selections were recorded piano selections. Special recorded vocal musical selections presented during the service were “He Hun the Moon” by Kirk Talley, “Keeper of the Stars” by Tracy Byrd, “I Thirst” by Ben Speer, and “How Great Thou Art.” Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery of Marion. Those serving as pallbearers were Buford Stout, Gale Jeter, Jim Hill, Mike Huffine, Edward Troxel, and Ralph Walker. Following the graveside committal service at the cemetery family and friends gathered at the First Baptist Church for a meal and continued time of fellowship and support. For those who preferred, memorial contributions were made to “First Baptist Church” and mailed in care of Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court Street, Marion, IL 62959.
