Rosemary G. Redden, age 90, of Marion, IL, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, at 4:36 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2021, in Saint Francis Medical Center of Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born on Wednesday, September 24, 1930, in Clifford, IL, the daughter of Sterling E. and Lucille (Farmer) Gothard. Rosemary attended school in Herrin, IL, and was a graduate of Herrin High School. She continued with her education attending for two years at McKendree College of Lebanon, IL. She was united in marriage to James E. Redden on Friday, January 16, 1953, in the Herrin United Methodist Church of Herrin, IL, and together they shared over 52 years of marriage until his death on Thursday, September 8, 2005. Rosemary loved being a homemaker, seeing to the needs of her family and managing her home. She was an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church of Marion. She also was a member of the Homebuilder’s Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women and member of the Women’s Bible Study Group. When her children were young she taught Sunday School and Bible School for children and was known to be a prayer warrior. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling with her husband and had visited many places in the world including; Paris, London, the Holy Land, Switzerland, Hawaii, Catalina Island and Florida. She also enjoyed cooking, helping with anything she could at church, studying the Bible and constantly praying for those in need. Her family was a very important part of her life and was proud of all of their accomplishments. She was always interested in all of their many activities and looked forward to the many times they all would be together. The many memories created will now be cherished by those she leaves behind. She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Powell and husband, Nick of Scottsdale, AZ; two sons, Don Redden and wife, Lynne and Terry Redden all of Marion, IL; four grandchildren, Brittany Powell and Mario of Chandler, AZ, Brett Powell and Cortney of Marion, IL, James Douglas Redden and Chelly Hope of Marion, IL and Autumn Redden of Swansea, IL; three great grandchildren, Summer Combs of Marion, IL and Brooklynn and Jaxson Hope both of Marion, IL, niece, Brenda Finke and husband, Danny of Herrin, IL; great nephew, Ryan Finke of Herrin, IL, other extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Paul Gothard and his wife, Wilma. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion. The visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021, at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, located at 1201 North Fair St., Marion, IL. Following the time of visitation the funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. James Slone and Jim Turner presiding. Interment will follow next to her husband in Hillcrest Cemetery of Carterville, IL. For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be made to the “Aldersgate United Methodist Church”, and mailed in care of Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St, Marion, IL, 62959.
