Gerald Visconti Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gerald Visconti, age 65, of rural Creal Springs, IL, the Lake of Egypt area, formerly of Boston, MA, passed away peacefully with his family near at 2:05 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2020, at home. He was born on Thursday, March 31, 1955, in Braintree, MA, the son of Generoso and Eleanor May (Wallace) Visconti. Gerald attended school in Braintree, MA, and was a graduate of Braintree High School Class of 1973. After graduation he answered the call of this nation by enlisting into the United States Air Force. He faithfully served for over 17 years, being stationed all over the world, and after his period of faithful service was honorably discharged in 1995, with the rank of Master Sergeant. After his retirement from the military he began working for the United States Postal Service in the Boston, MA area. Later, after he moved to the Lake of Egypt area in 2003, to be near his family, he worked for the Carbondale and Herrin, IL Postal Service until his retirement in 2015. Gerald was united in marriage to Scarlett Ann Sessums, who also was serving in the military, on Thursday, November 12, 1992, in Seoul, South Korea, and together they have shared nearly 28 years of marriage. He attended at Cornerstone Church of Marion, IL, until his health declined. In his spare time he enjoyed riding trike motorcycles, fishing, and spending time in the outdoors and was an avid Boston Sports fan. Though he kept busy with his military career, postal career and other interests; his family was a very important part of his life. He enjoyed the times they all shared together and was always interested in all of their many different activities, especially those of his grandchildren. The many memories that were created will now be cherished by hose he leaves behind. He is survived by his wife, Scarlett A, Visconti of rural Creal Springs, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald J. and Patricia Visconti of El Paso, TX; daughter, Maryellen J. Visconti and her fiancé, Gayland Pearson both of Dubois, IL; daughter and son-in-law, Cassandra A. and Andy Larsen of Houston, TX; ten grandchildren, Jayson G. Visconti, Kacie L. Visconti and Ashley M. Visconti all of El Paso, TX, Ryan K. Klein of Nashville, IL, Caleb M. Klein and Summer R. Klein both of Dubois, IL and Joshua T. Larsen, Kara A. Larsen, Connor F. Larsen and Madelyn E. Larsen all of Houston, TX; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Nancy Visconti of Plymouth, MA, Barbara and Ed Anderson of Norwell, MA, Julie and Bob Fischofer of Nashua, NH and Bella and Steve Bibbo of Manchester, NH, a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion. The memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at the funeral home with Pastor Matt Crain and Gerald’s son, Gerald J. Visconti presiding. Those wishing to attend the memorial service should gather at the funeral home prior to 11:00 a.m. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Heyde-Pillow V.F.W. Post No. 1301 of Marion, and members of the United States Air Force Funeral Honors Burial Detail. For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be made to “The National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation”. Memorial contributions may be mailed in care of Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court Street, Marion, IL 62959. Memorial contribution envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
