Lila Ruth Heiser Colloton Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lila Ruth Heiser Colloton, 89, of Marion, IL, passed away peacefully at 5:55 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2020, in Parkway Manor of Marion. She was born on Wednesday, May 7, 1930, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Lavern William and Viola Emily (Holm) Heiser. Lila attended school in Highland Park, IL, and was a graduate of Highland Park High School. She was united in marriage to John E. Colloton on Saturday, August 19, 1961, in Glencoe, IL and together they shared nearly 25 years of marriage until his death on Monday, January 27, 1986. This marriage was blessed with four daughters; Laura, Kim, Valerie and Alicia. Lila was always grateful that her Lord and Savior gave her the ability to express herself in the written word. She was a free-lance writer for the Southern Illinoisan Newspaper, beginning in 1982 and continued for many years until her health declined. She also had written articles for many other publications and had two poems published in the International Library of Poetry in 2007. She loved her Lord and Savior and was a long time member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ of Marion and later became a member of the Christian Life Church of Herrin, IL. Recently she had been attending at The Journey Church of Marion, with her family until her health declined. Lila loved to travel and had visited many countries including Israel, Canada and many of the countries of Europe. She had also traveled to Alaska and had taken many tours all across the United States and also had taken many Christian Cruises. She also enjoyed taking her family, especially her grandchildren on special trips. She also dressed as a clown visiting nursing care facilities and delivered Bibles to truckers at diners in Illinois. Lila would tell you her Lord and Savior was the most important part of her life and her family was the second. Her family, especially her four girls and grandchildren brought her great joy and she was always interested in all of their many activities. She cherished the many times and memories they all shared together. She is survived by her four daughters, Laura Bowen and husband Jeff of Marion, Kim Veach and husband John of Ocala, FL, Valerie Colloton of St. Paul, MO and Alicia Colloton of Marion; six grandchildren, Nicole Griffin and husband Chris of Paducah, KY, Tiffany Colloton of Florissant, MO, Marissa Brooks and husband Eric of Granite City, IL, Kirstie Newsom of Marion, Shawn Bowen of St. Louis, MO and Kaitlyn Bonds of Evansville, IN; great granddaughter, Nevaeh Newsom of Marion; niece, Holly Jay and husband Bob of Parker, CO; two nephews, Caryl Reaver and wife Doris of Crystal Lake, IL and Bill Reaver of Albuquerque, NM, several great nieces and nephews, other extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Lois Reaver-Black. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion. The memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at the Journey Church, located at 9835 Old Bainbridge Trail of Marion, with Pastor Jordan Bird presiding.
