She was united in marriage to Joseph Henry Mathis, Sr. on Saturday, June 8, 1957, in Sterling, IL, and together they shared over 59 years of marriage until his death on September 1, 2016. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Marion. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking and baking, especially cookies at Christmas time. She also enjoyed bowling and fishing, especially for Crappie. She loved her family and always enjoyed the many times they all would be together. She was always interested in all of the family’s many different activities. She was a devoted care giver to her husband when his health started to decline.
